Was great to see the highland cows close up and hear all about them,the sheep and the land. We didn’t realise farmers had it so hard. Flash and tilly the collies were just gorgeous. Definitely a worthwhile visit for children and adults alike.

This tour was the highlight of our visit to Scotland. Wendy was very passionate about the farm and and was able to answer any questions, she was a delightful person. We loved being able to get up close to the animals.

Great fun I fell in love with the heiln coos very curious coos and all the baby lambs not forgetting the dogs Tilly and lightning was great seeing them in their natural surroundings up close and personal we highly recommend it.

Brilliant experience. Wendy was very welcoming and gave us loads of important information about real life farming. Was a very down to earth tour and the animals are very well looked after. We saw lots of new born lambs with their mum’s and held and fed the lambs without a mum. We also got to pet the hardworking but very friendly farm sheepdogs! My sister & I bought this experience for our mum & aunt as a Mother’s Day gift as they’ve always wanted to see the lambs up close & to do so in person on a real authentic farm was so great. Wendy who owns & works on the farm was our host & she was great – so friendly & really knowledgable, we got to find out loads about how the farm works & the amount of effort it takes to keep everything running smooth. The lambs were adorable! So tiny & cute – feeding them & cuddling them was the best! We took loads of pictures & even got to meet their working dogs Flash & Tilly, not to mention their cat Splash who loves all the attention lol & then we finished with a free hot chocolate! A 10/10 experience & we will be back in the summer for the highland cow tour!

We had such a great time at the lambing experience on Easter Monday. The small group size is fantastic, and everyone had plenty of hands on time with the lambs. Wendy is a great host, patient, knowledgable and most importantly paying attention to the welfare of the animals at all times. We had an amazing visit to Muirhouse Farm on Saturday morning! We learnt so much from Wendy about their farm and sheep & lambs. The highlight was feeding and cuddling some gorgeous wee lambs. The drive up to the farm is beautiful and a great view welcomes you when you get out the car with the family. Great reception seating area where Wendy gives you a great talk about the farm and its going on to make it more sustainable. Coffee great too at the end of the tour.

This was a new experience for us and a birthday gift for my husband. We had an amazing afternoon and the weather was kind! As soon as we arrived, we were welcomed by Wendy our guide, 2 gorgeous collies and the wonderful farm cat! What a beautiful location, clean and tidy farm. I wore my wellies but they get dirtier on our usual dog walk! Wendy was so knowledgeable and interesting. We would recommend this tour to anyone who loves nature and animals.

From the start to finish it was a brilliant time. Splash the cat welcomed us and my little boy just loved her. After visiting 2 years ago, I knew I wanted to return with my 5 year old niece now that she is old enough. An interesting and informative visit with everyone enjoying feeding and cuddling newborn lambs. Wendy made it easy to understand the life and non stop challenges of being a hill farmer. Woolly hats a must and the hot chocolate at the end most welcome. Suitable for all ages.

This was such an interesting outing. First the children (aged 10 & 6) loved being pulled along behind the tractor! They thought it was great fun. Also we got to see the resident pony – a great hit with my grand daughter😄

The phrase “every day is a school day” really is true. Wendy was brilliant at explaining about how the animals are cared for and how the land is managed to be able to care for the animals and the environment at the same time. The family are extremely committed to what they do and it really shows through. All the animals look in great health and everywhere is very clean – not easy on a farm.

The views across to Argyll and over towards Edinburgh are absolutely spectacular – it was worth going just for that.

We also loved the little grey cat and the yummy cakes that were available for a donation!!

I found Kilmacolm Farm via a Google Search of fun activities we could do while our cruise ship was docked in Glasgow (Greenock) for the day. This farm tour was one of my family’s favorite activities of our entire trip. We were the only ones on the tour that day and Wendy was an amazing guide. The farm is beautiful and we got up-close and personal with lambs and cows (including a funny moment when twenty “curious cows” completely surrounded us while we were learning about them).

It’s very hard to find an activity that will please our entire family (which includes a teenage and pre-teen boy). Wendy (and her entire family – including her adorable kids) made us all feel very welcome and we learned a ton. If you’re looking for an authentic Scottish farm experience, this is it! I cannot recommend this tour enough.

Our family of four, including two teens, from the Midwest United States, really enjoyed our tour. Wendy was interesting, telling us about the history of the farm, as well as their recent environmental innovations. She made sure we saw the sheep and cows, and had plenty of opportunity to take photos. This was a fantastic day trip, less than an hour from Glasgow, and highly recommend.

It wasn’t until the day we travelled, that we realised that we are at Kilmacolm farm for a lambing experience on a Easter Day! We drove from Glasgow, and we couldn’t believe how in our short 40 minute drive to the farm we had already seen sheep, horses, farm houses and the recently bloomed daffodils beaming in the countryside!

Wendy is a fabulous host. She was so engaging and so willing to share her experience and knowledge not just about the lambs but also about the flora and fauna and the other important geographical aspects of the place. Our group had children and Wendy made sure everyone was equally engaged. We are super glad we got to see wee Flash as well :).

The tour highlights were cuddles with the young lambs, feeding them, the scenery, the fresh air, understanding lambing lifecycle and the realities of a farm life.

A must visit for adults and children alike. We are looking forward for our next visit. 🙂

Visited for the lambing experience, although no lambs graced us with their birth on the day, there was still plenty to see and experience. Wendy was a fabulous hostess, imparting a massive amount of knowledge in a friendly, simplistic easy to understand manner that engaged well with adults and children. This was well worth the money and I would highly recommend a visit. We plan on returning in the summer for the farm tours. Seeing the friendly cat (forgot her name) was also a lovely bonus. Second year in a row that I have been to the lambing experience and I will definitely be back again next year!

Highlights include: the scenery, the fresh air breeze, cat and lamb cuddles, and meeting the farm cows (from a distance), not to mention the very warm welcome from Wendy.

Learning about these beautiful animals, the dedication the family has put into running the farm for generations, and witnessing their love and respect for the animals is very humbling.

We booked the Lambing Experience with Wendy at Muirhouse Farm and we weren’t disappointed.

From the outset Wendy shared her vast knowledge of farming in a friendly way that was easy to understand by all the ages present.

We were shown round the lambing sheds and every part of the process was explained.

The obvious highlight had to be when we all got the opportunity to hold and then feed some of the lambs!

The children loved meeting Farmer Wendy and enjoyed learning all about the hard work involved in looking after all the animals on the farm.

It was superb for the children to witness events on a real working farm – sheep being rounded up and expectant ewes being vaccinated and checked during our visit – simply fabulous to watch and really interesting!
