ABOUT KILMACOLM
FARM TOURS
Muirhouse is a family run working beef & sheep hill farm offering family friendly trailer tours for parties large & small. Situated between Kilmacolm & Greenock within a Special Site of Scientific Interest on the edge of the Renfrewshire Heights, we offer panoramic views up to 40 miles including Ben Lomond, Argyle, Glasgow and beyond to Lanarkshire. This allows spectacular photo opportunities not least the waterfall within Burnbank Water. Learn direct from the farmer about our naturally kept Highland cows and North Country Cheviot sheep which are reared purely on grass and heather, along with meeting the working collie dogs, horses and Splash the farm cat.
What makes us special?
Proud to be recognised as one of the cleanest, tidiest working farms in the West of Scotland, a warm friendly welcome awaits you by James & Wendy. 3rd generation farmers at Muirhouse which was previously owned by Sir James Lithgow ship builder as part of his grouse moor shooting estate. The remains of the 2 foot wide grouse railway track which was built in 1922 and remained in use until the 1970’s can still be seen during our tours today.
